Swim
Comments: My swim was horrendous. I started out too hard and payed for it. By the time I hit the turnaround buoy, I was sucking wind pretty bad. My husband tells me I was swimming sideways on the way out. LOL! I think I was trying to get in closer to the buoy line, but who knows. It was a mash and I was just swimming my azz off. :) What would you do differently?: Not swim like my pants were on fire ;). Maybe warm up a little before the race start. Transition 1
Comments: T1 time is included in swim time. Not sure how long I spent, but it was definitely too long. I was pretty winded after the swim and couldn't see killing myself to get on the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I was consciously taking my time. NOTE: I made a conscious decision not to wear socks. This worked out well. Bike
Comments: My quads were burning on the bike right from the get-go. This was no doubt the result of my fire drill-like swim. Had to let up just a little to let some blood get into my legs so they could feel normal. Didn't want to end up with an injured quad. None the less, my bike split remains my best split. What would you do differently?: Again, some warm up before the race start and a less desperate swim would have left me in better shape to get on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: There was significant run off the bike to my transition area made more difficult with bike shoes still on. Got to try leaving shoes on the bike next time? I took my time with this transition as well which is added to my total run time. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I took my time and needed to get a gu and some water before I took off on the run. Did not put socks on and this worked out fine. No socks, no gloves for sprint distance is the way to go. Run
Comments: Total run time include T2 so not really sure how fast i did this run, but I feel like strategically, I did a good job managing it. I started out taking small steps with attention to my breathing and the fact that I needed to get it under control and manage my HR. I did not have a watch or HR monitor on so had to listen carefully to my body and just go with how I felt. I ran the first 2 miles slow and steady and picked it up a bit in the last mile. Had a pretty nice sprint at the finish and tried to pick off a gal who had passed me about a 1/4 mile out. Couldn't quite do it, but I'm sure I helped her shave a few seconds off her finish time. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I ran smart. Post race
Warm down: Caught my breath and then went back to finish line area to cheer on a number of folks I knew would be right behind me finishing. What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that this is a Thursday evening and I have to break my ass to get from work to the race site always puts me at a disadvantage. Event comments: I love this race series. Its a great Thursday night workout, a challenging course and you can make it whatever you want it to be for you. Great to see so many familiar faces both racing and spectating. Again, it the best 15 bucks you'll ever spend and just generally a good time! :) Last updated: 2007-06-28 12:00 AM

Got there with about 10 minutes to spare before race start. Was the last person to register and get a chip. Part of the race for me was getting from work to home to race site in time to actually participate.
None really. Saw a bunch of people I knew and spent what time I had saying hi and socializing.
