Swim
Comments: This was my best swim ever! The water was calm. I started in the very back of my wave, which was the very last wave. So, I didn't have to worry about people coming up behind me and swimming on top of me. I was able to relax and just swim...I also did freestyle the enire way and even passed a couple of others...I felt like for the first time I could have swam further...When I got out of the water...It was a big YAHOO!!!!! from me! What would you do differently?: Absolutely nothing...too bad I was last in my age group..but who the hell cares??? Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Absolutely nothing... Bike
Comments: Bike course was QUITE HILLY! Since I was feeling real good coming out of the swim, I didn't want to really go all out too early...I mean it was going to be a 23 mile bike ride...my longest in a tri event...So I focused on getting thru the hilly section in the beginning of the course and then settle in with fluids and a cliff bar. I was able to pass several others, which FELT GREAT! It was overcast, which was nice not having to ride in the sweltering sun. For the last 8 miles, I really started to push it hard. Sipped water all through out the ride. What would you do differently?: Absolutely nothing...it was a good ride. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: This time, I ran with my Fuel Belt, which meant having my own water...learned my lesson last time. Calves were tight for the first two miles. From that point, I felt like I was in a good rhythm and pace. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Wish I could run a little teeny bit faster...but hell who cares? Post race
Warm down: pretty much just walked back to transition and got my stuff and headed back to the house... What limited your ability to perform faster: oh, it could be any number of things that really would take too much time to type... Event comments: Well, today is my 40th birthday! And I have never felt better. This was my longest tri event...I had my doubts on the swim, but when I finished the swim feeling the way I did today, it just makes the rest of the race feel so much better. I am just so happy that I stuck with it and decided to give this event a shot. It was so worth it and it is one that I want to do again. Shout out to all the volunteers---they are so positive and can really put a smile on your face! Whoo HOOOO! Last updated: 2007-07-01 12:00 AM

Well woke up about 10 minutes before the alarm...which was 4:20 a.m. Drank 2 cups of coffee and had a pb&j on multigrain toast...sipped water off and on before the race. Left the house at 5:40 and arrived at race site at 6 am...
Not much...unpacked my stuff in the transition area, picked up chip, headed to the restroom and then went for a short swim.
