![]() Swim
Comments: Bad for me with the shallow weeds. I have a deep stroke, so I got freaked when I kept coming up with weeds on my arms. When I swam I passed people, but would freak, and go on my back. On the way in, I stood up, and started to walk, and stepped on something that left me with about an inch long gash on the bottom of my left foot.(Stopped by urgent care, and they wanted to throw in 3 or 4 stitches, I talked them into gluing it instead) What would you do differently?: NOT FREAK because of the weeds. Not step on something that would cut open my foot. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Had a small problem getting my wetsuit off, and examining my foot. Ran up the sandy beach, and down the dirt path. Stepped into my wash container at my transition spot, and it was half mud, half blood. Dried my feet, and put on socks & shoes, figuring I would stop at medical if I needed to after the bike. I had to finish before my little sister, she beat me by 4 minutes last year. What would you do differently?: NOT CUT MYSELF ON SOMETHING ON THE SWIM. ![]() Bike
Comments: Had to bike hard if I was going to catch my little sister. Plus with not knowing how/if I was going to be able to run, I had to go hard on the bike. What would you do differently?: NOT CUT MYSELF ON SOMETHING ON THE SWIM. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Did good coming off the bike, and running to the rack. I took off my shoes, and my calves locked up. Quick change of shoes, and slow walk with gradual build up to small step run out of transition. What would you do differently?: NOT CUT MYSELF ON SOMETHING ON THE SWIM. ![]() Run
Comments: Once I got going on the run I was doing good. Nice comfortable pace. I was looking for my sister on the run to figure out how much time I needed to make up. I saw her coming back a little before the turn around. I started to pick up my pace a little bit. I finished good, and pushed a couple people who left 2 waves in front of me, and were younger then me. What would you do differently?: NOT CUT MYSELF ON SOMETHING ON THE SWIM. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Got to the finish, dropped of the timing chip, grabbed a bottle of water, and asked where medical was. Cleaned my wound, and put on a bandaid. Put on my bloddy sock, and cheered on more people including my older sister who came in at 2:01. What limited your ability to perform faster: NOT CUT MYSELF ON SOMETHING ON THE SWIM. I stopped at Urgent Care on my way home. They wanted to put in 3 or 4 stitches, but I talked them into glue instead. Event comments: Bad swim, but best bike & run that I have done to this point. I LOVE ADRENELIN!!!!!! Great race, it will be one that I will continue to go back to for a while. Last updated: 2007-07-01 12:00 AM

Woke up, and had a fist full of peanuts, peanut granola bar, and some milk. Showered, and got most everything in the truck. Started down the on ramp, and remembered my wetsuit was still at home.(One of my 5 year old's woke up with me at 4 am, and wouldn't go back to sleep until I left the house, even though I gave her hugs & kisses to go to sleep) I went back to get the wetsuit & drank an AMP energy drink on the way to the race.
Stretched a little, and talked to a bunch of people including my son's school teacher from 5th grade.
