Swim
Comments: The swim times are all suspiciously slow for a 400, so I think it was an inaccurate measure. (I would never claim to be a FAST swimmer, but I was MOP in my age group - the pace is usually quite a lot faster than 3 + min/100.) I felt very good and relaxed in the water, which is what I hoped for. What would you do differently?: I really need to train more in this discipline, esp. with my first oly coming up on August 19. Transition 1
Comments: Lots of bikes - I ran by mine the first time! What would you do differently?: I needed a better marker, so I could find my stuff. Bike
Comments: I was quite proud of this effort. Focused and felt like I was working hard the whole way. What would you do differently?: Not much - think I performed pretty much as well as I could have with current fitness. Transition 2
Comments: Once again, I couldn't find my row. This is my third tri, and the other two I've done have had fewer than 200 participants, so this 800 thing was a whole new experience. Run
Comments: I felt like I'd kind of plateaued by this point. BUT, I had decided that I'd be happy if I ran faster than 8 min/mile, so mission accomplished. I could use a little speedwork, but I'm not sure it's in the cards for this summer. Post race
Warm down: I just packed up my stuff and headed home to the fam. I didn't know anyone at the race and the food line was really long by the time I got around to getting in it -- just wanted to hit the road. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think this was a good effort. I could always be in better shape, but considering the shape I'm in, I think this was solid. Event comments: I'd do this event again. Very nice. Last updated: 2007-07-02 12:00 AM

I was up just after 4 to eat a bit, have a cup of coffee, and drive the 45 min. to Chisago.
None. I did ride my bike around a bit to make sure everything was in working order. Then, I stood on the beach for about 45 minutes waiting for my wave to go. The waves were determined by order of sign-up, so it was hard to know where you were at any given time.
