Swim
Comments: This was the most crowded swim I've ever done. It was awful. It was asses to elbows the entire way. At one point about halfway in, I inhaled a lungful of water, had to flip onto my back and fight for oxygen. I quickly searched for a kayak and seriously considered flagging them over, it was THAT bad. Managed to get my breathing back somewhat normal, flipped over, and slugged on. The weeds/reeds were awful as well. Felt like I was pulling myself along with them rather than swimming through them. What would you do differently?: Not sure there's anything I could've done differently, other than not choke. Transition 1
Comments: My transition spot was right at the beginning of the bike/run area, so didn't have to travel far with the bike, which was nice. **Funny side note... during the run from the water, DH caught up to me. Didn't want him to think I was weak, so I jogged to T1, even though I normally would've walked. After the race, he told me he'd have walked if I hadn't been jogging. Too funny. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: As always, I like to hammer on the bike. Always feels good to pass people. Also felt I had more to prove on this race as there were a lot of DRC people. A friend passed me right at the end with a "Hell No!!" What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: No issues. Quick turnaround. Had to get out of T2 without letting my friend pass me back. :) What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Started the run off with an uphill. Yea. H-I-L-L is a 4-letter dirty word in my dictionary. Tried to run as long as I could. Did the run/walk thing through most of the run, but managed a decent finish at the end. What would you do differently?: Run more. :) Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit, loaded up the bikes & stuff in the car. Went to the springs for an "ice bath" soak for about 20 minutes while we watched the start of the kids race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of consistent training. Event comments: Good race. Was only a spectator last year. I am glad I decided to do this race this year. Hadn't planned on doing it, was a last minute decision. Made the right choice. Will do it next year. Last updated: 2007-07-04 12:00 AM

Based on vague memories of the race. I really should learn to do these dang RR's the day of the race. Memories are better then. :)
Ate a banana, 2 endurolytes and drove to the race site.
Got into wetsuit and got it wet and burped.
