Swim
Comments: Stayed back and took it easy. Stroke, stroke breath....repeat. Sight every 5th or 6th stroke. DO NOT FREAK OUT! When I got to the turnaround, I knew I had it. I don't think I was much above resting HR and it was smooth. I wasnt even the last guy! I coulda done that 10 more times. I was maybe even too relaxed (coulda been whistling on exhale). What would you do differently?: Not a damn thing this time. Transition 1
Comments: I wasnt in any real rush. My goals today were to embrace my inner fish and finish. My wife said I spent way too much energy checking out what everyone else was doing. What would you do differently?: I gotta practice transition. Today it didn't mean much to me. I was talking with one guy after the race and he claimed hes cut 5 min off his finish just in transition. Bike
Comments: GREAT RIDE FOR ME! Just got into aero and sssspppppppppppiiiiiiinnnnnnn. It was pretty fast for me too. My wife said she overheard a couple of people say I past them :) What would you do differently?: NADA Transition 2
Comments: Wasnt keeping track at this time. It was pretty quick, threw on my running shoes, grabbed my hat, hit the lap button on Mr Garmin and away we go! Run
Comments: This was fairly fast for me as well. I past quite a few people and felt good. Post race
Warm down: Uhhh, am I supposed to do that? Think I forgot. What limited your ability to perform faster: 40 yrs, 20 lbs :) Event comments: This is not a fancy environment, but it is a lot of fun! Very family friendly (great kids tri after the main event) good post race munchies, and fun people. Interestingly enough the winner was Rachel Sears (Yes, the pro) Evidently she was traveling through, and apparently she travels with bike....(She was very freindly) Last updated: 2007-07-04 12:00 AM

This race was about 100 miles from home, so I had a nice long drive to panic about OWS. My last attempt (5 mile lake) was a disaster and I did not want a repeat.
After setting up transition, I waited around till closer to start time then got suited up and in the water. I swam maybe 50 yards out and back, gave the fish a scare....just got used to the water.
