Swim
Comments: Horrible swim! Started good for the first 100 or so, then got swam over by a fellow racer. Got my head pushed down, came up choking and spitting. I think I drank half the lake. For some reason this took me out of my groove for the rest of the swim. I was on my back and side, trying to catch my breath and get my heart rate back down. Just couldn't get comfortable again. Gutted it out, as soon as I was out of the water I took off at a near sprint through the transition, trying to make up some time. What would you do differently?: Start at the back of the pack. Let others get ahead of me so I can focus on my race and not get swam over. Try to stay a little more focused. Slow myself down physically and mentally. Transition 1
Comments: Transition one was pretty uneventful, just glad to me done with the swim. Jeff was getting his shoes on when I got to my bike. Got my shoes and helmet on. My jersey kinda got stuck when I put it on, it was soaking wet. Tossed a couple of shot blocks in. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: The bike was probably my best leg, felt the most comfortable. Course was nice, lots of cheering people. Bike performed really well, braked and shifted perfectly. Legs felt good throughout. Had to stop one time, my shoe lace got caught in my bike chain, had to stop and re-tie my shoe. Got passed by a bunch of nice bikes. I think I passed every mountain bike at least one time. What would you do differently?: Drink a little more. Transition 2
Comments: Racked the bike, took the helmet off, grabbed a quick drink from my bottles and got going towards the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Run was good, nothing spectacular. Legs felt pretty good just a little tired. Found somebody running about my pace and stuck with them awhile. Tried to speed up on the way back. High-fived Jeff(jeff417) at about mile 2. Got near the end and sprinted as hard as I could throught the cheering sections. What would you do differently?: Push just a little harder overall. Try and get below an 8 min./mile. Post race
Warm down: Walked a little, waited for Jeff to finish. Got a gatorade and an apple. Went out to eat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather, the rain sucked. But mainly my poor swim. I just need more open water training, and to to be smarter about the swim. I thought I was better prepared then what I was. Event comments: Had a good time, I will make sure to do this race again next year. Glad to be a Triathlete again. Looking forward to the next race. Last updated: 2007-07-06 12:00 AM

Got up, saw that it was raining, like always on race day. Had toast, apple juice and half a power-bar for breakfast. Got loaded up and picked up Jeff about 5:15. Got to the race site about 6:15
Got checked in, got my body marked. Set up transition area. Took a walk down to the water, water felt warm due to cool air temp. and rain. Stretched a little before the pre-race meeting.
