Comments:

Felt good initially - had a good rythm. Then nerves and chop got the best of me. Got a good lungful of water a couple of times while looking up to sight. Lots of bumping and kicking - seemed crowded the whole time. Can't seem to relax and stroke well when I get fatigued.
What would you do differently?:

Just more swimming.

Still woefully slow in the transitions. Was hoping not having everything rain drenched would help - guess it did a little. I think I just need to practice.

Hills kicked my ass. I knew what to expect, but it was still hard. For me at least. First eight miles or so are a challenge - steel hill, then a long hill, steel hill...

Good lord my time was slow - but I know I'm not fast on hills.

Why did they start us out uphill? That was the hardest part of the run - trying to get going. After that it felt OK. Took almost hour minutes off my time from the last race.

Event comments:

Transition area wasn't great. Kinda sucked for spectators. They closed the transition area about 10 minutes before the race started. I was in a late wave so I had to stand around and shiver for an hour.

Overall, it was one I'm glad I pushed through.
