Comments:

I thought I had a great swim. Same course as last year, and I came in at 20 min flat, was expecting about a 20 min swim again. Felt great starting out, sighted very well, passed a ton of poeple. Nice steady effort throughout, never really killed myself, but was going comfortably hard. I was very disappointed when I got out and saw 25 min on the watch. Overall, everybody's times were much slower than last year, so I guess the current was much less than the last couple of years, but again, I was really expecting a 21 min swim at worst. I was very pleased with my swim though, as I sighted well, had a consistent effort, only got passed by a couple of people that I could tell, and drafted off those when I could.

Overall I thought I did well. I passed a ton of people on the hills and felt sronger as we went. THe last few hills I really did well, passing some riders and dropping others that I had been leapfrogging the whole time

Comments:

I had a decent run, not great. I knew the first mile would be tough, and I wasn't upset with a 7:51. The next 2 miles were pretty consistent, too. At the turnaround, I was strating to feel it, though. After passing the 5 mile mark, there is a short very steep hill that killed me for the 3rd year in a row. I walked up it and then ran slowly back in the rest of the way
What would you do differently?:

drink a bit more
Post race
Warm down:

walked around awhile. found the girls, and ate some pizza and cookies

Event comments:

The new course was good, great support and tons of volunteers. Finally, this year, a nice t shirt that I will actually wear

Course: Out and back on Hwy 27. Very hilly. No really steep grades, but a couple of 0.5-0.75 mile climbs at 4-5%. I was very scared when I drove the course the night before, but I actually did a lot better than I thought I would. I passed a ton of people going up the hills, especially on the way back in. I only remember getting passed by 6 people with higher numbers than mine. I was pissed when we got off 27 and I was already at 25 miles on my computer. The new course was good in the fact that it was a nice road, good pavement, no construction, but it was on a 4 lane divided hwy with a spped limit of 65. At least there were a ton of police and we had the lane coned off for us, but still it was an odd place for the bike
