Pre-race routine:

Usual Eggo breakfast and one Boost. Stretched and massage before leaving for race. Before leaving for race I put on one set of cold weather clothing. Then I relented and decide to change everything and put my warm weather outfit on. When I left for the race at 5:45 temp at my home was 56 degrees. That was appropriate with the clothing I currently had on. However, at the race site it was 42 degrees.Burrrrr. So, I then put my cold weather clothing back on which consisted of tights, and a base layer with my short sleeve jersey over that. I ended up using my running cap and gloves also for the first 5K. I also put my wind breaker at my bike in the transition area for possible use for the bike segment.
Event warmup:

A few intervals around the starting line. Felt pretty good today warming up, no initial stiffness, felt loose and ready to go.

When I came in from the first run, I shed my running cap and gloves and because I was pretty warmed up. I decided not to put on my wind breaker for the bike ride. Foregoing the wind breaker turned out to be a good decision.

This years transition of 1:38 was 21 seconds slower

Course: In the park. First half of run seemed to be on an incline, final half of run on decline. Not much of this course is flat. Unable to estimate percent of general incline. The incline was enough to require extra effort.
