Swim
Comments: The swim was okay. I managed to swim right into one of the bouys. Doh! Sighting was okay but I had to check often because the current kept taking me off course. What would you do differently?: I wish I could swim faster but it is what it is. Only two months left in the season so it's not like I can fix anything in that short timeframe. Besides now's not the time to deconstruct my stroke. I'll definitely have to fix this for next season though. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Nothing to say about the bike segment. It was okay. Transition 2
Run
Comments: The course felt longer than 5K and the last kilometer seemed super long and took us right pass the finish line only to shuttle us back out into the woods for another 500m before crossing the final finish mat! Bah! Probably the reason why I didn't like the run was because of the elevated HR. It was not easy keeping that pace. Post race
Warm down: Warm-down? Hah! It was so hot and humid that it took me over a half an hour to finally stop sweating. What limited your ability to perform faster: Decent sleep and endurance. Event comments: This event had a huge turnout, over 1200 competitors between the Half Ironman, Sprint and duathlons. That made for an exciting atmosphere. The run course ruined the event for me (others had similar comments). Would I do it again? Sure, why not. Any tri is better than no tri. Last updated: 2007-07-08 12:00 AM

Woke up early to make the drive out to Peterborough. Two nights with less than 6 hours of sleep (less than 5 the previous night) made me less than energetic on the drive up.
Quick little out and back run to get the blood pumping. Watched the start of the Half Ironman race and that really started to wake me up and get me excited about the upcoming race.
I swam about 150m just before the start. Felt fine but the water was really really weedy. I'd get a handfull of weeds with every stroke :) Felt nice and relaxed but HR was elevated. Standing around at the start it was about 120bpm which is about 20 beats higher than normal for a race start.
