Swim
Comments: We were 8 in my lane, a bit crowded. Took it easy, wouldn’t risk the same as in my last race in Hou, where I did go to fast. Were last out of the water in my lane, and # 15 overall What would you do differently?: Nothing, but train more Transition 1
Comments: We had a "long" run to out bikes, 250m. Passed 1 on the run and 2 in the transition zone, gaining 3 places in T1 aren’t so bad. It paid of not to go to fast on the swim. My suit was stuck on the damaged heel and I had to take it off carefully. Helmet, shoes and glasses went on smoothly. Bike down from the rack and off I went What would you do differently?: Get a new suit (already ordred) Bike
Comments: I came out of T1 as # 12. Even though I had a few contenders in my sight I was not able to catch up with them. Drafting was allowed. After a few km's I spotted a bike that wasn't moving away from me, and I tried to catch up. It was a 15 years old girl from Holland, she was quiet a swimmer and rider. I had a hard time and wasn't gaining that much. But instead we passed another rider. 2 km before the turning point I saw the leader, racing past me, he was in another league. He won by 5 min to #2. I could now for the first time count my own position. 11th place and I was only 500 m behind the Dutch girl. To finish in top 10 was now my goal, and I started to concentrate on getting up to her. On a long downhill I gained several hundred meters, and some more on the flat part. I tried to hold a high cadence and soon I had contact. I was drafting on her as we came to a short steep up hill, and couldn’t hold her. On the next flat part I caught her again and held her wheel for a minute or so, and then I felt that I had to take the lead and passed her. She followed immediately in my rear wheel. I thought that she would hold on to that position, but on the first downhill I lost her. I had hoped for some cooperation that could have brought us both some good, but apparently she was used up at that time. So she told me after the race. When I came into T2 I looked over my shoulder and saw two riders some way down. They were not to pass me on the run, as I was in tenth place. What would you do differently?: Train more - I keep writing this! Transition 2
Comments: T2 went OK, but I think I can get a bit faster when I learn to get out of my shoes on the bike. What would you do differently?: Train for a faster T2 Run
Comments: On the bike I did drink a lot as it was a warm day. But it turned out to be not quite so warm and I was having too much on the bike. The first 500m was, as always, hard on my calf’s, but I was able to run. Before the first corner I looked back over my shoulder to see where the closest opponents were. I had a gap of 300m to the closest. In front of me I had a guy from our club, I could tell due to the color of his trisuit. On the up hill I was gaining on him, but suddenly I heard somebody catching up from behind. A girl passed me, but not the Dutch girl. Now I was back in 11th place - d... The guy in front of me was now walking and I caught up with him fast, as it was on the down hill now. When I passed him, I said "come on - only 2 km" and he followed me. It was Kasper, an attendant from the pool, he's a strong swimmer and a good rider, but he can't run. 50 m later he had to let go and walk again. The rest of the run was solo, no one in front that I could catch and no treads from behind. I crossed the line with a big smile. What would you do differently?: As I was tired at the end of the run, I need to train some more long sessions. Post race
Warm down: None specific, just walking around cheering as the contenders came down to the finish line and talking to the other triathletes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hmm - training I guess Event comments: This was the first time we organized a race in our club. Everything went well, but as always there is room for improvements. We have learned a lot to our race next year. 43 triathletes were registered, but only 38 started. One felt bad during the swim and one had a puncture on the ride. Youngest triathlete was 10 years old, the oldest 70 Last updated: 2007-07-10 12:00 AM

Getting up early, setting up the tent, the computer, drink station and a lot of other things. I was organizing the race together with our coach
When I dressed up in my wetsuit I damaged the suit with my right heel, as my suit is way too small.
Only had time for a short swim
