Pre-race routine:

Christina met me at work - went to the Y and changed. Starting line was 100 feet from the Y, so I warmed up a little on the side street. Did a little stretching, and wished Christina luck as she went back to the MOP starting area.

Comments:

OK Run. I shoud be satisfied, but I feel a little disapointed with my performance. This is a new Adult PR for me, but I was hoping for a little better. The conditions were excellent for really fast times, and there was no reason not to really rock this race other than my own lack of speedwork etc...
What would you do differently?:

I need to get right at the front. I was held up a bit by a bunch of people that shouldn't have been in front of me. A bunch of rabit types that went out way too fast etc... I probably passed 100 people and got passed by 2 after the first mile. (I re-passed one of them in the last 200 yds).

Warm down:

Jogged back down the course and met up with Christina. Jogged it back in with her. She set a new PR by 5+ minutes!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough speedwork - marathon focus -

Event comments:

This is a really fun race. Such fun to have so many runners downtown right outside my work, and the Y where I run to/from every day. As usual, it seemed to me to go off without a hitch. VERY well organized and run - especially considering the huge number of runners - plus the fact there was a baseball game downtown tonight as well!
