Total Time = 2h 47m 1s
Overall Rank = 473/1316
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 57/167
Pre-race routine:

Had a banana in the morning. That's all I could eat. Then I drank gatorade.
Event warmup:

Didn't warm-up at all.
Swim
  • 34h 17m
  • 1640 yards
  • 2h 05m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

People said the surf wasn't bad but for me it was bad as I've never swam in the ocean before. I didn't know where I was and probably lost a lot of time going the wrong way. People kept bumping into me the whole time. That was annoying as it was the first time that people actually touched me during a tri. I guess I gotta get used to it... I wasn't doing a full stroke on my freestyle. Don't know why...
What would you do differently?:

Practice ocean swimming.
Transition 1
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

Took my time in T1. I wanted to be confortable in my shoes so I wipped my feet from the sand and put on my socks.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I don't want to stress out and gain a few seconds and then be unconfortable riding my bike and running with sand in my shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 56s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Don't think I pushed very hard on the bike. I could have gone faster. Maybe with a faster bike? Saw some guys that were really really fast.
What would you do differently?:

Do more speed training on the bike. Don't feel like I have enough power in my legs.
Transition 2
  • 03m
Comments:

I was also taking my time in transition. Guess I lost a lot of time. I was running with my fuel belt and then decided it was gonna bother me so I gave it to a volunteer.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster by training for my transitions
Run
  • 49h 12m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 7h 55m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Didn't really push it on the run. Started slow to get my legs going and started going faster and faster. I could have gone even faster I think.
What would you do differently?:

Be mentally prepared to give it 100% and not just 75.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch and ate.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental block to give it 100%. Training by yourself makes it hard to push yourself.

Event comments:

Didn't like the race very much myself. Don't think I would do it again. I liked the San Diego race better.
