Swim
Comments: I improved my swim quite a bit over the past few weeks. However, this was a down current swim so it makes it a tough comparison to other swims. Overall I felt a lot stronger in this area. What would you do differently?: Try to stick to the middle of the river a little better since that is where the fastest current was. Transition 1
Comments: I spent a little too much time trying to get my shoes on. Otherwise it was a decent transition. I still have room for improvement though. Bike
Comments: I tried to leave some gas in the tank for the hills, which seemed to work pretty well. I felt pretty good on the climbs. Aero position is a little uncomfortable for me after a few miles. I need to get stronger on the bike in general. What would you do differently?: Train longer and harder on the bike, and practice more in the aero position. Transition 2
Comments: It took me a little too long to get my socks and shoes on. I also fumbled a little bit with my race belt. What would you do differently?: Practice T2 more in my brick workouts so I can cut this time down. Run
Comments: I had to stop twice at the aid station to get enough fluids and also to rest my aching/cramping quads. What would you do differently?: Bring my own water bottle. I also need to strengthen my legs so they are stronger for the run after climbing hills on the bike. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Muscle strength, slow transitions. Event comments: Overall this race went pretty well. I improved over my first tri, and it gave me confidence that I am improving (particularly on the swim). I still have a lot of work to do in training for the next one!
