Swim
Comments: Ugh -- I'm trying to get used to swimming without a wetsuit, since I can't use one in Kona, but this was really bad. I was much slower, and somehow I ended up caught in with a bunch of breaststokers. I got kicked really hard in the wrist that I broke last year. I wanted to throw up. Finally I stopped and headed away from everyone else and swam for a while (gasp!) to the left of the bouys. Eventually I was ok again and felt good --until the next wave came to swim over the top of me. All in all, not a great start to my day, but at least I came out ok. What would you do differently?: Use my wetsuit -- although it was great practice for Kona, so for the summer, I'm okay with it. Transition 1
Comments: Great transition. Bike
Comments: This was a good course for me. I decided after my not so great swim that today had to be a training day and nothing else. So I got settled in, made myself content with people passing me, and focused on training for Kona. I really like the new course and had a great day. Nutrition was perfect and I felt really comfortable on the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: This includes a potty stop -- otherwise this transition was one of my best ever. The running legs were there immediately! Run
Comments: One of the best runs I've had this past year. After hurting my ITB at the Apple Du this year, I thought my running days were over for the summer. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was for me to run this. I even think that I could have pushed it harder. Perhaps taking it easier on the bike is a good idea, as I had legs and energy to run like I've rarly had off the bike. This run was FUN! What would you do differently?: Nothing! Post race
Event comments: I love this race. It's close to home, great volunteers, tons of support on the run, and just overall alot of fun. Last updated: 2007-07-17 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:15, took my thyroid meds and jumped in the car. Stopped in Clearwater for some coffee and ate my bagel. Ended up on the world's longest detour, so a 35 minute drive took almost an hour. Oh well, at least I was planning to be early.
I was really nervous for this race. I couldn't seem to remember how to set up my transition stuff. Everything took longer than I expected it to. I finally put on my running shoes and ran for about 10 minutes to calm down.
