Overall Rank = 62/197
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 14/33
Pre-race routine:

Woke up earlier as the race was farther away. Everything pre-packed this time, including bike. Less stress. Race start not till 10am so had two bowls of cereal with water.
Swim
  • 15m 32s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

Testing stroke changes, also doing some bilateral breathing. Still kept getting off course.
What would you do differently?:

Give up and sight more often, don't follow others. A little less effort, relax more.

Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

T1 was faster than usual, but screwed it up when I crashed while jumping on the bike, it was way wetter/slipperier than it was earlier when I was observing the mount area. Lost all my water, tore the elbow but it only cost me about 30 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Slow down A BIT for the jump on bike, in case of slips.

Bike
  • 34m 3s
  • 15.5 kms
  • 27.31 km/hr
Comments:

Pretty good, might have to try it again without the borrowed Cev Dual.

What would you do differently?:

Don't crash and lose all the water. And go faster.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Still jumped off moving bike, worked fine. Rack went well, socks etc fine. Took a second to drink water, glad I had a spare bottle.

What would you do differently?:

Forget the fuel belt and just run with 1 small container of water.
Run
  • 31m 8s
  • 5.67 kms
  • 05m 29s  min/km
What would you do differently?:

Go harder. I felt sick around 2km so kept the pace at 5:30. Felt better near the end so full sprinted. Felt fine after it was over, too much gas left in the tank at the end.

Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, minor stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mucking around with some gatorade, ate a snack bar 30 mins before race thinking it would be good energy. Not next time.

Event comments:

It's a long day - be there around 7, and draws aren't over until 2pm. Didn't start the sprint until 10. Nice lake, community is not as hilly as Arbour Lake. Liked the hill on the bike though. Should start the mens oly sooner, instead of 1:30 after the women. Definately might consider this race next year for my first Olympic.
