Pre-race routine:

Never again will I drink coffee before a race. EVER. It certainly doesn't help with my nerves in the slightest.

My nerves were REALLY bad. I didn't know if I was going to throw up or poop myself and to top it all off right before the horn blew my goggle strap snapped so I had to tie it but of course that didn't work. I couldn't see a bloody
What would you do differently?:

Buy better goggles and try and think about swimming by myself.

Not a lot of space to move around in but I did my best to get out there and fast. Some women were joking around about how they were out the water 1st and yet others were offski on their bikes. How can you not love this sport and the people that take part?
What would you do differently?:

Try and move faster. Better than almost 10 minutes though!! hehe

I was off!!! I felt sooooooooo bloody good about this bike ride because I felt good in general!!! At the end of the swim I really kicked hard to loosen my legs up and it worked!!!! I averaged 15mph which is what I was aiming for and on the downhill I was clocked at 27mph. Oh I was stoked. Really I was

When I get my new bike you aint gonna see nuttin' but smoke my friends.

I cannot believe I finished in this time. Honestly. 11.78 minute mile!? Good grief. I felt so slow and my legs felt so heavy yet again. The last half mile or so I got a really bad cramp in my left hip but I didn't want to walk across the finish line so I just sort of hobbled.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more sprints instead of keeping a steady pace, it might help with that heavy leg feeling.

Warm down:

Hung around and chatted to Harmony about some other races that we are both doing, wetsuit chat also. Oh and lets not forget the eggs benedict and the pancakes at IHOP down the road. Mmmmm yummy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My poopy equipment, running skills and water intake.

Event comments:

What a great race!!!! Loved the course, it was so scenic. I will certainly do this again. I only wish there were more water stations on the run as I didn't bring my bottle with me this time.
