Comments:

The first few hundred meters were alright. I was told to seed myself higher than normal, so I did. I found this girl's feet and she was great. She was just faster than me that I was working hard in a draft. Felt so good. Andrea gave me the plan to coast the first half and hammer the second and to pick people off. By the time we rounded the bouy we were steadily passing men. So I turned it on and started to pass men and women. It was a great feeling.
What would you do differently?:

I tried to pass my draft earlier than Andrea said. I should have just hung on. I think I should have gone a bit harder too at the end.

I need to learn Transitions a little better. Like getting into my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Take my goggles and hat off immediately. Bike time includes the transition time.

Comments:

I felt very strong on this ride. My legs felt powerful and I passed so many people it was great. The hills were a challenge and at one point I lost my chain. However it was a great fun ride. The downhill sections were amazing. Andrea told me to hammer the way back, I should have gone a little harder I think on that. I saw Dave on the ride, he looked like he was having so much fun.

I felt a bit sick going out on the bike, I threw up a little. Andrea told me it was because I had eaten too much nutrition by that point. I will try not to eat so much before the race.

I passed a lot of people on small graded hills, they were spinning in their small rings. I felt like a machine passing them at the speed I was going in my big ring. I wonder how much faster I will be with Aerobars..
What would you do differently?:

Not lose my chain, hammer harder on the way home
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Running shoes were hard to get on.
What would you do differently?:

Baby powder or vaseline my shoes

Comments:

I knew that this run was going to hurt. And I am still mentally having a hard time with all of the people that pass me on the run and hills. Its so frustrating to bike and swim so hard to lose all those people on the run. I really hope that sans the hills in Kelowna that I will be able to make up some time and be a bit stronger.
Andrea told me to do little steps and to keep upright and try to be efficient. I was just trying to survive. I got to the hill, and it hurt. LOTS of water stops. I wonder if I took too much... dumped a lot of water on my head. I think I might cut off all my hair, it seams to weigh me down.

There were some sprinklers, I ran through those, I had to fix my shoe and I did that in a sprinkler. That felt good. Some water stops had ice in the water, the ice went into my bra. It was Awesome.

The way back was hard too, downhill I can't make up the time for the long uphill, so I was just trying to charge it. I was tired and I didn't know where my legs were. I had to ask them "Hey legs!? you there?!" - No answer. "LEGS!!!!!!! Whats going on?" *power gel* "OH there you are!"

The last 2km I knew that i was much slower on the run than I had wanted to be and tried to calculate the time to finish. I figured that I might be able to hit 2:37 or 2:38. So I asked the lady behind me how much distance we had left, and she said. "the 1km cone is right there"

CONES! WHAT? ! I hadn't seen these markers on the run, I don't know if this would have made any difference at all, but I was super annoyed that I didn't see the distance markers before it was too late.

But I picked up my pace and kept my eye on the Peach Concession stand and tried to run in strong. I felt pretty weak, but when I knew I would be around 3:38 I was super pumped. I saw Amanda and Dave at the finish. Nice to have some cheers.

My ankle hurt, but I don't think I noticed until I was done. Turns out the back of my shoe was bloody.
What would you do differently?:

I need new speed laces, The ones I have are loosing their spunk.
Post race

What limited your ability to perform faster:
