Swim
Comments: Felt calm, sighted more to avoid other swimmers than to follow the course. Could not see my elbows, wrists, finger tips, but still felt great. Didn't push until the second half when swimmers thinned out. Starting on the far right helped somewhat. Also developed feel for when I was nearing other swmimers on side or in front because of water turbulence. Overall turbulence low due to inverse V design. Transition 1
Bike
What would you do differently?: Overlooked a gear that could have helped me on the down hills (don't forget the left shift :) Also tried to imagine pedaling in a perfect circle with even pressure . . . still have more work to do on this one. On the other hand, didn't rush into the transition on the last .5 mile so that legs weren't too rubbery while trying to run in cleats to the rack Transition 2
Comments: I like having my transition station (shoes, etc) facing my handlebars. What would you do differently?: Lost a food gel which was great during the ride. I'd put another food gel in my running shoes to slip in my jersey, just in case. Run
Comments: continued to leap frog with folks from the bike. was breathing hard, but checked my hr at 169bpm. focused on the BT "pretty running" image from all those training logs. Did miss my food gel :( Was shocked to see my pace results . . . I had no idea and 8:29 minute miles is a personal best. Post race
Warm down: sports massage -- Victor really worked my lower left quad which I didn't realize how tight it had become until he started working it. lesson learned: should really stretch at end of race Event comments: Excellent playground for my kids -- when we were finished and wanted massage, food, etc. Last updated: 2007-07-22 12:00 AM

3 minute swim, lengthening arms/torso. Floating thinking calm thoughts about brown water. Should stretches on land.
