Swim
Comments: I started at the back, which was a mistake because I passed about 15 guys in the first 50 yds. (It was difficult to pass and I got kicked alot.) Also passing caused me to have to go around people, adding distance. Rank wasn't too bad, all things considered. What would you do differently?: Start more towards the front, I'm a stronger swimmer now and I for sure could have finished in under 9 minutes had I not been forced to go around people and take a longer route. Also - SIGHT BETTER - as a result of poor navagiation, I added at least 25 yards to my swim, I need to cut the bouys closer and keep a better eye on them. Going to start breathing every three for better sighting. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good for me, I really need to go a little faster here though. I need to practice my bricks, I'm pretty sure I could have shaved a minutes off this T1. What would you do differently?: Practice Bike
Comments: I felt very strong on the bike (it's my favorite part too) I was lucky to get behind a smoking hot woman who was just a little faster than me for about 6 miles, turns out with that motivation, I could keep up with her. Had a great time on the bike, felt like it was over in 10 minutes. My goal was to average over 20mph, which I did but I know that I have more to offer on the bike, I for sure could have gotten another mph or two out of my legs. I just wan't familiar with the course so I held back a bit. My biggest improvement was taking mostly every turn fast, wide and in the aero position, somthing I've been practicing for a few weeks. They did a good job with the course. {I could have put out more and ranked higher.} What would you do differently?: Dont be a lazy JACKA$$ - go drive the course before the race it! I held back a bit thinking there may have been a hill or a long climb b/c I wasn't familiar with the course - had I driven it I'm sure that I could have shaved minutes off time. Transition 2
Comments: Did ok here. Looking at the times of others I for sure could have went a little quicker. What would you do differently?: Speed up a bit more and practice Run
Comments: Run went well, no cramping or issues. Felt as though I ran as hard as I could have. Just need to practice more to drop my times. But Sub 8's are very good for me at this stage considering sub 10's were as good as I could do a few months ago. I'm sure that with practice I can get to sub 7's. What would you do differently?: Practice more long slow distance running with intervals of sprints. As a practice I often sprint at the end of my run, which I think helps a great deal, I beat a guy in my age group by 1 second on a 50 yd come from behind sprint in last 2/10 of a mile. I also passed about 5-6 people in the last 1/4 mile. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank my beers. What limited your ability to perform faster: I had a cold and felt a little crummy race day - and now I'm fullblown sick. I felt about 95% on race day but given how hard the cold hit me the next day, I'm certain my ability was tainted somewhat. Event comments: Great race. Very well run and great venue too. Had fun - just missed meeting my BT buddies :( Last updated: 2007-07-23 12:00 AM

Woke up a little late, about 5am, ate a powerbar and drank lots of water on way to race, about 1 hour away.
None, wife broke her toe and daughter overslept so I just milled around by my lonesome. Ate some sport beans and drank 1/2 bottle of water 30 minutes before the race.
