Swim
Comments: Swim felt fine but with all the newbies doing the sprint I could not find feet to save my life and I kept having to pause and change my line to avoid back and breaststrokers. Could have done a lot better but such is life. What would you do differently?: Start at the front. Transition 1
Comments: Blue Lake has a long run from the water to transition and then from transition to bike mount. My actual in transition time was really fast but it was getting to and from that was what slowed me down. What would you do differently?: Not much. Bike
Comments: Rocked this bike! I haven't been on my bike since IM so almost as soon as I got on it I was like I miss my bike. My legs feel great, there was very little wind and I was cranking along. Before I knew it I was nearing the turnaround and I looked at my time and I saw if I pushed it I could break 40 minutes on the bike. WOO HOO!!!!! Rode hard and made it in with seconds to spare. Crazy thing is I could have gone harder than I did. What would you do differently?: Go just a little bit harder and move up 50 places on the bike :) Transition 2
Comments: Raced across the timing mat into T2 then walk/jogged bike to rack and switched shoes, vaselined my feet and I was off. What would you do differently?: Not much except wish it was shorter to get from entry to exit of transition. Run
Comments: Right as I was exiting transition I hear the song "Party like a Rockstar" playing on the sound system. This is my friend Drew's themesong so I just broke out into this big smile and rocked out as I started my run. Felt great the whole time doing my planned run/walk. While on one of my walk segments another athlete passes me and she's like "Don't Give Up! Keep moving" I was honestly shocked cause I was like "I'm not giving up I'm doing a planned walk break" Weird, somehow now walking equates to giving up. I do not agree with that at all! Got to see all my buddies who were doing the Oly on their bikes and cheer for them as I ran along. What would you do differently?: Run just a little faster on my run segments. Post race
Warm down: Got some water and then hung out waiting for all our Oly racers to start coming in. I did have a sweatshirt which was lucky because it started to get cool and misty. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much. I can work on transitions a bit but really I think I had a great race for being 4 weeks post-IM. I'm happy! Event comments: AA Sports did a great job! Last updated: 2007-07-23 12:00 AM
