Pre-race routine:

woke early and lost contact lens in sink - boo hoo! late start
PB&J eng muffin
Swim
  • 31m 47s
  • 1094 yards
  • 02m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

didn't feel so well just before start of race, so was not as pumped as I hoped to be.
What would you do differently?:

Try to get more sleep night/weekend before, maybe take allergy pill
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I could not run with nor jump on my bike because some weirdo had started to take my bike out, realized (!!!!) it wasn't his (HUH!? that would mean he either also put on my helmet and shoes, or just grabbed the bike first???) then LAID MY BIKE ON THE PAVEMENT. He did not re-rack it. Therefore my rear-view mirror started wobbling off and after about 5 miles I just stuffed it in my tritop pocket. Not worth getting a DQ for abandoned equipment even though it wasn't my fault.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure what I could have done to prevent that. I racked my yellow bike between my friend's bronze cannondale and the other friend's blue trek. you know, with MY number on it.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 23 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

didn't want to overdo it since I had a 4.4 mile run coming...
What would you do differently?:

well, hopefully not have a bumpy T1 due to someone messing with my bike, then I also somehow picked up someone's helmet number in my front tire after the u-turn. Wind must have caught it. I thought I had a real problem with my tire, which thankfully was not the case.
Transition 2
  • 00m
What would you do differently?:

If it were a shorter run, use yankz. However I thought the distance dictated the extra support of actually lacing my running shoes.
Run
  • 00m
  • 4.4 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

cooler than last year. I didn't walk much at all, only to grab a cup of water at the stops and pour them on my face & hands.
What would you do differently?:

I have GOT to stop twisting my body when I run! My pix look horrible, like I'm trying to be a pretzel with each step!
Post race
Warm down:

stretching at pavilion

What limited your ability to perform faster:

being on the verge of nausea at start of swim, with no energy, then the major distraction of not knowing if my bike had been tampered with as I came out of the swim.

Event comments:

IF this is a USAT event, they should enforce USAT rules. Such as a time penalty when you run off with someone else's bike.
