Pre-race routine:

I know this was only a 2 mile race, but I want to look back on this race report next year and laugh at my finishing time.
Event warmup:

Streched. Then, about a half mile easy run.

Comments:

My goal was sub-16. Felt pretty good from the start, but knew that my pace was going to be hard to keep up. Hit the first mile at 7:51. I was REALLY hoping that 9 seconds was going to be enough to pad me with a 16 min race. At the turn around, we had to turn and run up the levee to the track, which is where we did the second mile. Even though it was short, only a 28 foot elevation climb, I sucked the life out of me. Amazing how little things like that can totally smack you in the face. Anyhow, the last mile was a struggle. I knew my pace had slowed, and that I probably wasn't going to make my goal time, but I kept on chuggin' and only missed it by 23 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I felt spent at the end, so I'm pretty sure I gave it all I had. But I need more race experience to condition myself to realize that the pain is only temporary, and my body can do more if I only push it a little harder. Basically, I need to stop wussin' out.

Warm down:

Red beans and rice, talked to some friends, and came home.

Another good race by NOTC. Good turnout and a good after-party.
