Sunny
Total Time = 1h 04m 51s
Overall Rank = 68/265
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 11/44
Pre-race routine:

I did light stretching, ran around trying to find my transition area. Hydrated with water.
Event warmup:

No warm-up, people were not allowed in the pool after 6:45 AM, my start was 45 minutes later, so a warm-up would have been pointless.
Swim
  • 05m 57s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was really rough, I was completely gassed in the pool.
What would you do differently?:

Train much harder in the swimming portion, I get fatigued easily in the water due to poor technique.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

I though I did okay on this portion, it was a long run from my rack to the mount point.
What would you do differently?:

Try to clip shoes to bike before the race and jump on. This will take a lot of coordination though.
Bike
  • 36m 2s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 20.70 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my first bike for time on a slightly beat up Scwinn Prelude 14 speed with absolutely awful shifting action, tires not being pumped to correct PSI, and
What would you do differently?:

I just purchased a triahtlon specific bike, Motobecane Nemesis Pro, that should help a lot. Also I should get more time in the saddle to become more comfortable in turns and gear changing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

I did not tie my shoes down and just slipped them on. That was a huge mistake. I ended up blistering badly.
What would you do differently?:

Get speed laces to tie my shoes fast, and not run into blisters from friction in my shoe.
Run
  • 20m 19s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

I would have run much faster had I not gotten blisters on both feet within the first 800 meters. I also had a hard time transitioning from biking to running and felt very stiff for the first half of the race.
What would you do differently?:

Buy speed laces to cinch my shoe up tightly and avoid blisters.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching, stretching and more stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Blisters, crappy bike, not enough time to train in the pool.

Event comments:

This was my first triathlon and I had an absolute blast. I look forward to competing in future tris
