Pre-race routine:

Didnt know if I was going to make this race because it was my 3rd day in the cath lab and things were seeming busy and I didnt think I would get out on time. Things started to move along and left hospital around 3:30 came home and rested feet and took 1 hour power nap. Woke up at 5:45 then left for race around 6ish.
Event warmup:

Jogged and stretched on/off till start of race.

Comments:

I was a little worried I wouldnt be that good today because my feet/legs were killing me from standing with the lead on in the cath lab all day. Started tword the front in a good spot. Didnt have to fight slower and faster runners too much which is usually the case weaving in and out which espells some energy. I found a who I think her name is Jennifer that I ran and paced with my last race and decided that I was going to run with her this race. Horn sounded and I was off started out good but, I was trying to get a good rythm of breathing because I knew this race being only 2 miles I was going to push hard. Maintained a good pace. Hit 1st mile mark at 6:48. Ran up the levee and slowed a bit, well because it was tiring to run up a levee. Missed the water stop. Jennifer was still in front of me and actually took the water I was going for. I was feeling fine and doing a lot better than I expected I would have, so I set the goal of <14minutes. The Jennifer and garmin did a good job helping me keep this pace. After the hump on the levee by Jefferson Playground I started to feel it. I looked at my Garmin and and was noticing a pace of 7:15-7:30. I knew I had to pick it up if I wanted to be sub 14. So I took off and passed Jennifer. I started to feel as if I couldnt push anymore and then I seen the finish line. So I stuck it out and got into a srint match with this younger kid. I backed off from the sprint to the finish and just let him pass. No point in getting into a sprint to the finish for 56th and 57th place. I would have been different if it was a tri and this guy was in my age group. Jennifer got 5th overall in the female division.
What would you do differently?:

Race just for fun and convinence.
Post race
Warm down:

Just kind of walked it off

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I felt I had a good run.

Event comments:

I seen and talked to some Delta Tau Deltas (Pat and Darin) that I knew from Southeastern that were there. Also Pamela Owen whom I havent seen since 4th grade picked me out and we talked a little. I then talked to Uncle and dranks some beer. A good time and a good turnout.
