Age Group Rank = 18/49
Pre-race routine:

Waking up late, as always.
Event warmup:

Quick run through bike gears, short run with strides, short swim.
Swim
  • 14m 5s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Thought I knew swim course, but they had us swim on the left side of the first orange buoy, then the right side of the yello turn buoy. Didn't think much of it until I rounded the first buoy and I couldn't see the next turn buoy... I didn't know which side of the orange buoys to swim on and did a lot more navigation and sighting tha I usually do. In addition, my goggles knocked off twice by the same guy. Very strange since there was no one else around us.
What would you do differently?:

Not take it for granted that the swim course is the same as last year.
Transition 1
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

By far, my best transition ever. Wore my race belt with number rolled up under my tri shorts.
Bike
  • 43m 44s
  • 15 miles
  • 20.58 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my best ride ever! Pace was comfortable most of ride, but got a little testy when several people passed me just after 10 mile mark and then proceeded to form a pack and slow down in front of me. I rode too hard to pass them back the last few miles.
What would you do differently?:

Not let other people dictate my race pace.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

By far another of my best transitions ever.
Run
  • 26m 47s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Outside of my first triathlon, this was my worst performance ever. I had nothing left after the bike and I still think I am having trouble getting my legs loose after the bike in these short distance races because I did feel rejuvenated after about 2 miles. However, despite feeling "rejuvenated" I didn't have anything left for a real sprint at the end.
What would you do differently?:

I need to do more bricks and focus more on them during training.
Post race
Event comments:

Had a sprinker tent to cool people off... NICE!!!
