Total Time = 55m 51s
Overall Rank = 13/341
Age Group = M30-39
Age Group Rank = 5/61
Pre-race routine:

First time at the race, got there early, checked in, wandered around and did a light jog on the run course to review terrain.
Event warmup:

Light jog, a couple very short pickups
Swim
  • 05m
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Actually a little less time in the water, probably about 4:50, including slowing down a little on the last 25 yds to draft on someone and recover a bit before the run to the bike. Easier than trying to go around that late in a short swim. A little disappointing from a time standpoint.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Don't jump on my bike. Not now, not ever. I leave that to the fast people. Transition time included a short run from the pool.
What would you do differently?:

At some point maybe I'll learn how to get into my shoes on the bike, but I'm decently fast as it is. 13/341 in transition not bad.
Bike
  • 25m 12s
  • 10 miles
  • 23.81 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was fun, very flat, fast, most corners had space for wide, fast turns, loved the three person cheering section on the back half of the course.

Two laps through neighborhood streets.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

Missed my stuff. Put on my number belt backwards and had to fix it. Forgot my water bottle and had to retrieve it. Still, should not have been that slow. No socks, just a hat, shoes, belt, and bottle...
What would you do differently?:

What did I read somewhere- "slow is smooth and smooth is fast"... Too jumpy, too many mistakes. Probably only lost 5-10 seconds on each, but it adds up...
Run
  • 22m 56s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run for a change. Felt fast, maybe could have pushed a little harder in the middle of the run.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder in the middle of the run and see what happens.
Post race
Warm down:

Wandered around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

T2 lost me b/w 30-45 sec

Event comments:

Good little race. Nice people putting it on and for a small local race very professionally run. That said, the super short (300 yd) indoor 25 yd lane 12 lap pool swim made me feel claustrophobic and having to wait about an hour and a half to get my bike out of transition was frustrating. It would also be nice if they had 5 yr increments for their age group awards.
