Swim
Comments: The swim was/is my best event. I had a tough time in the begining getting some water "real estate" to properly start swimming. Once I claimed my piece of water, I got into a groove very quickly. I was able to swim free-style face in the water the entire time. I was so nervous that I conserved my energy and really could have gone faster. The swim felt a little short, and after talking to Sally Edwards after, she confirmed. I was pleased as I just learned to swim 8 weeks ago. What would you do differently?: Give a little more in the swim. Transition 1
Comments: I had a massive charlie horse in my left leg coming out of the water. This caused getting to the transition area very dicey and slow. Limped like a wounded soldier. Once I got to transition, tried massaging my leg (no avail) ate 2 shock blocks and prayed for the best. What would you do differently?: Run with a good leg? Bike
Comments: The course is rather nice until the crazy hill(s) around mile 3. I had to limp up the hill with my bike as my left leg was barking like crazy. After gimping up the hill, I rode the remainder of the course. I thought my name was "on your left", but everyone was encouraging and great! The bike is my weakest event as I concentrated on the swim being new to swimming. What would you do differently?: Train more on the bike and most importantly...HILLS. Not get injured? Transition 2
Comments: As my left leg charlie horse has now morphed into a clydesdale, I am nervous about starting the run. The transition, fast and easy. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I jog like a champ out of transiton until out of sight of spectators. Then I pull an Igor like leg drag/walk down and back. When I get back to the spectators, I finish like a rock star then directly to the medical tent. What would you do differently?: Ummm, not get injured? Post race
Warm down: iced my leg in the medical tent and drank some champagne What limited your ability to perform faster: My leg Event comments: This was a great supportive first timer race. Im proud that I finished and am now a TRIATHLETE! Last updated: 2007-07-30 12:00 AM

Got up at 4am and had a bagel with peanut butter and a banana. Got to the course by 6am and set up transtion. Proceeded to puke 2x and have stomach "issues" due to nerves and who knows what else. First timer right of passage I assume!
Swam a little in the lake.
