Overall Rank = 571/1008
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 65/100
Pre-race routine:

Arrived early for a change, got marked up, and set up the transition.
Event warmup:

Easy walk down to the beach
Swim
  • 08m 14s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Hard a tough first leg. Had trouble getting a lane and kept getting other crawling over me. Just felt like I had to use too much energy to get comfortable and in rhythm.
What would you do differently?:

Relax and try to find a good lane.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Not really sure where T1 started and ended with their time pads, there were 3 from the time we exited the water until the time we entered the actual transition zone. Short hill from the beach up to the street really took the wind out of me. Had a tough time recovering. Rest of transition went well, got in and out pretty quickly.
Bike
  • 27m 28s
  • 9 miles
  • 19.66 mile/hr
Comments:

This was one of my better bike legs although I never really recovered from T1. My goal was to improve on my bike leg without sacrificing the run. Still had enough for the run but had a slow first mile.
What would you do differently?:

I need to be more vocal on the road and call my passes.
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

Nice T2 for me. I made sure to get out of my pedals before hitting the dismount and got in and out rather quickly.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 28m 54s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Run is still my slowest event, but I am improving. I was pretty winded from going hard on the bike so I was worried at first that I might have to walk. Once I got through the first mile, at 10:30 pace I was able to relax and get into a smooth, faster pace for me. Second mile had to be mismarked as I went through it at a 7 minute pace (no way). Was pretty happy with my run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Easy walk, got some water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did what I set out to do, except for the slow first mile on the run.

Event comments:

Koz puts on a good race. Planning on doing their entire series this year and will continue to do them in the future.
