Swim
Comments: The whole swim felt aweful, although my swim time turned out to be pretty good. Getting over a cold with junk still in my lungs didn't help. Couldn't get comfortable bilateral breathing so endured the fatigue of breathing on every stroke. The water felt good though and was really warm. What would you do differently?: not too much Transition 1
Comments: Ok. I just suck at T1. I don't know what it is. What would you do differently?: practise Bike
Comments: This was a fatnastic course with a LOT of rollers. I didn't spend very much time in aero, but LOVED all the fast downhill sections. I thought that this course was a lot more challenging than the Half Iron. My bike computer wasn't working so I was surprised to see my final bike time. I thought that I was a lot slower than that. I tried really hard to, well...go hard on the bike this time. What would you do differently?: attack the hills a little more agressively than I did. More hill repeats in training. Transition 2
Comments: I'm a little better at this transition. And the elastic laces are a MUST! And because my laces are neon orange it helps finding my spot on the rack. Run
Comments: Considering how I was feeling, I am amazed at my run time. I thought that I would be around an hour. I felt pretty strong off the bike but around 4K things started to go downhill. I ended up walking here and there. Around 2K to go I got the dry heaves. Not too pretty. Hubby ran with me for the last 3K and was very helpful in keeping me focused on the finish. I was absolutely SHOCKED that I went well under 3 hours. What would you do differently?: Need to do WAY more brick running. Post race
Warm down: I stood in the lake for a while. Oooo, that did wonders for the legs :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Getting over a cold. Event comments: This was a fantastic event. I will definitely do this one again. Last updated: 2007-08-01 12:00 AM
