Pre-race routine:

up at 4:30 had a bagel and peanut butter loaded up with teammates and headed for the route
Event warmup:

stretching but no actual warm up...
Swim
  • 19m 11s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

I am a terrible swimmer...my goal was to finish without stopping more than twice to rest... and I did the whole thing without stopping at all! I had some moran right in front of me that I couldn't get rid of that decided to stand up and "run" in chest deep...I wasn't very pleased
What would you do differently?:

try to stay a little closer to center...I definately swam more than I had to trying to avoid other swimmers
Transition 1
  • 04m 20s
Comments:

I took too long in T1. I definately didn't run soon enough...I wore watershoes and I'm very glad I did...lots of rocks to run over.
What would you do differently?:

want shorter less tight socks...they were hard to put on wet feet. Also need a nose plug with a strap as I lost mine somewhere in T1.
Bike
  • 53m 36s
  • 12 miles
  • 13.43 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was my best part...I have room for improvement but I think that is more due to my fitness level than any actual mistakes. I passed quite a few people...that made me feel good. I stayed on the bike up all the hills (which I figured I would).
What would you do differently?:

get a road bike!!!! I am still using my Gary Fisher front suspention mountain bike...
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

this transition went much smoother...although I really pushed towards the end of the ride since I knew my run wouldn't be good and really gave me some serious jello legs worse than when I had done BRick training...
What would you do differently?:

buy Yanks. The sneaker tighteners I bought didn't really stay tight...
Run
  • 37m 23s
  • 2.8 miles
  • 13m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

went as expected...slowly. But I ran more than I thought I would. there was a nice elderly lady who lives in the neighborhood that was just standing in her front yard with a hose so the women could cool off...she was a savior!
Post race
Event comments:

overall I did what I wanted to do...finish the race. Next time I know what I need to work on. I wasn't thrilled with my results needless to say but for someone who isn't very fit yet I think I did pretty well!!
