Sunny
Total Time = 1h 36m 41s
Overall Rank = 112/251
Age Group = F25-29
Age Group Rank = 4/14
Pre-race routine:

Woke up just before 5. Forced down some oatmeal and juice. Got to park around 5:30, should have got there earlier as the bike racks were pretty crowded. Ate a banana around 6, which I think helped.
Event warmup:

Got in the water briefly. Was forced to come in earlier than I would have liked. Had to wait for a while, because I was in the last wave to start.
Swim
  • 12m 45s
  • 879 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

My arms felt dead after about a 300 or so, but I was able to keep my stroke fine. I had to start breathing every 2 sooner than I would have liked. No one around to draft off of. Sighting was good.
What would you do differently?:

Should have tried to keep up with the 2 in front of me to draft off of; they only finished 40 seconds ahead. Got a better warm up in.
Transition 1
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

Slow.
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn how to get into my shoes while they're on the bike.
Bike
  • 52m 10s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.25 mile/hr
Comments:

I went too hard on the bike in my first tri, so I think I was a little too conservative here. Had to hit the brakes a few times to avoid people.
What would you do differently?:

Worked the middle section of the course harder. I should really have come in around 50 or 51 minutes.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

The running with the bike was hard. Getting my helmet off and switching shoes went fine, though.
What would you do differently?:

Left my bike shoes in the pedals! Running with bike shoes on is not fun.
Run
  • 28m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

After having a really tough run last time (had to walk multiple times and felt horrible) I had a really good run this time. I kept a nice steady pace and was only passed twice (by guys from earlier waves) which felt good.
What would you do differently?:

I could've picked up my pace a little sooner before the finish. Once again, I was a touch too conservative.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a little. Water, gatorade, oranges, and bananas. Hung out with my family and dogs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to work on my bike more. This was only my second tri (my first USAT sanctioned tri), so I'm still figuring out how to approach the three sections.

Event comments:

I had a great time! And I'm overall very satisfied with my race, although I would have loved to be top three in my age group. But my goal before the race was top third, and I did that. And I finished in the top half overall, which I'm also happy with. I'll probably be back next year.
