Pre-race routine:

Little different this time. Woke up at 4:45 and showered. I had all my stuff packed and so I put on my backpack and rode my bike to the site. It was great to get the legs moving and sweat a bit instead of going into it cold.
Event warmup:

Biked from my house to the race and a bit more. like 2 miles.
Swim
  • 29m 59s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

A great overall swim for me. I don't think I've ever done better than this. The water was dark and shallow. My goggles were brutally fogged and scratched. Made the swim more of a challenge than it should have.
What would you do differently?:

GET better goggles.
Transition 1
  • 03m 15s
Comments:

The T1 run was much better than usual. I ttried to jog to keep the HR low and was surprised that it was a sub 5 min T.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Bike
  • 1h 14m 24s
  • 25.27 miles
  • 20.38 mile/hr
Comments:

I was very satisfied with my time on the bike. I must climb better. My avg speed was dropping significantly on the climbs. I would have liked to complete this ride in under 1:10m
What would you do differently?:

Nada.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

SOCKS SOCKS SOCKS. I hate putting on socks. It seems like it takes a day; especially with wet clammy feet. Oh well- details.
What would you do differently?:

maybe put the socks on before the bike? See what happens?
Run
  • 1h 00m 26s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

I MUST learn how to run faster and more efficient if I'm going to survive "The Cun".

Other than that, there is nothing really to say. I ran like I stole something, and it wasn't enough!
What would you do differently?:

GO HARDER! Longer!
Post race
Warm down:

Nada. Ate bagels, bars and other crap. Hung with G, Fher, SBNM, Bory, JDawg, Linda W, and all of the other HH's that were just kickin' it out there today.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat and Humidity

Event comments:

A great trade off for a day of training!

HUGE KUDOS TO:
G for finshing a BRUTAL race under fierce heat.
Fher- for completing his first ever Traiathlon with class! A great dude and a great finish.
Bory: Not only for spanking the day but for running an additional 3 miles after he finished.
SBNM: another podium finish under some technicalities that almost shut her out. An ongoing legal carrer, got the results correct and SBNM earned her place. Also for doing 3 tri's in 3 weeks. OUCH!

A ruff bike course today in scorching heat. No wind made it a double edge sword. Must have been 95 degrees with humidity near 90%.
