Pre-race routine:

Just did some basic stretching.
Swim
  • 14m 44s
  • 820 yards

Comments:

Can a pond have waves? HOLY SMOKES. I've been training at Sunken Meadow and at times there have been some waves there, but I never had to swim directly into them. THIS WAS TOUGH. I was in wave 4 and it was one giant parking lot of swimmers and I never got into a rhythm. The 1st 25 yards I noticed 4-5 swimmers holding onto the kayaks – Not a good sign. After swallowing a gallon of the lovely pond water I decided to go way to the outside and after I rounded the 1st turn I was in good shape. The last leg of the swim was lighting fast due to the winds. Just when I thought I was done with the swim came the boulders on the pond floor. I looked like a drank a six pack trying to get out of the water. I kept falling down – Funny now, but at the time I was getting frustrated.
What would you do differently?:

Hmmmmmm.....Not sure. I guess try to practice swimming into the waves.
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

I thought T1 went well.
Bike
  • 32m 47s
  • 10.56 miles
  • 19.33 mile/hr
Comments:

I tried to push myself hard on the bike. This was only my 3rd Tri and I wanted to give it all I had on the bike. I absolutely loved the course. 2 hills were challenging, but not super hard. I thought I would finish better than 61 – Oh well.
What would you do differently?:

Work more on hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

I thought T2 went ok. My Shoe popped off my pedal as I was running towards my transition (I didn’t realize this happened) spot and Steve Tarpinian himself ran it over to me – Nice guy - Thanks
Run
  • 24m 8s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

I'm not a great runner, so a 24:08 was a great achievment.
Post race
