Pre-race routine:

This is a race I did last year with my Uncle in Mississippi during our annual family reunion vacation. This year my 9 year old daughter and my sister ran also.
Got up, ate some cereal and a banana, went and registered for race.

Comments:

Not a super fast time for me, but I did not take any days off before race. This was mostly for fun, but ran the best I could for the day. Very hot & humid. First mile at 7:25, thought I was going faster, but that is what it was. My uncle ran 31 mins, my daughter 33:11 (3rd in AG), and my sister 35 minutes(3rd in AG). Everyone wore one of my tri jerseys so we all matched. :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, this was a "C" race for me so it is what it is.
Post race
Warm down:

They handed out wet, cold wash cloths, this is AWESOME on a hot day. Free watermelon and water. Walked back and ran in with my daughter.
My youngest daughter during the race dropped my sister's cell phone down a storm drain. We had to get the street department to open a man hole cover and get a ladder and the race director climbed down to retrieve the phone. This was captured with a picture destined for their newpaper. My 9 year old says it's not fair, she ran 3 miles and her sister gets in the paper.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training and heat.

Great Southern, hometown race with all the trimmings: Nice people, good food, enthusiasm, and nice people.
