Run
Comments: This was a good challenge for me. I kept an eye on my Garmin so that I didn't stray too far above 10 minute miles, and was surprised to see that I started out in the 9 min range for a good while. I walked up a few of the hills, which was a good strategy for me personally. I didn't wear my portable music device, even though it wasn't banned, to keep up with my goal for this year of working on my negative self talk. It worked, I enjoyed the whole run and stayed positive the whole time. I didn't beat myself up for walking when I needed to and kept my pace up great. What would you do differently?: Not bothered with the fleece jacket, which I wore around my waist after mile .5. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the park and got some water. Stretched the old hips in the grass before driving home, because I knew I would get tight over the 40 min drive home. What limited your ability to perform faster: I wished I had progressed more with the long runs. This stretched me to my limit and I think I could have managed a few less minutes overall with better endurance. I get little hill practice, so that is very hard for me. Event comments: There were only 2 drink stations. A third would have been welcomed. After the race, all food was gone and water was on its way out. I prefer after race food instead of before (they had bagels). Very low key small event. Last updated: 2007-08-07 12:00 AM
