Swim
Comments: I think I led my wave through the swim.. somebody passed me running into T1 though. Didn't wear a wetsuit but the water was upper 60's and only 500 meter swim, didn't have any problems or regrets. What would you do differently?: Swim was fine for this short distance. I'm not sure I'm in good enough shape to keep the same pace for a 1.2 miler without being exhausted at the end, though. More training! Transition 1
Comments: Forgot to strap my helmet so I had to wait up at the mounting area. Took an extra 30 seconds because I had to move out of people's way then my bike kept tipping over. What would you do differently?: Strap helmet before running out Bike
Comments: This being my first bike race, I was surprised that I was passing people the entire time. Only 2-3 people passed me during the bike. I think my pace was around 20-21 mph, probably should be a lot faster than this for a sprint distance triathlon. I hope to hold 21+ mph during the half ironman in March, so I need to get training. What would you do differently?: Figure out an easier way to access Goo. I spent at least a minute digging into my pocket to get it out. Also bring a 2nd water bottle and utilize salt/electrolyte tabs. Transition 2
Comments: Accidentally started running back toward the entrance to start the run leg. Luckily Marisa was helping me out on the side and yelled at me to go the other way. Run
Comments: Was a fun course. Didn't really have any issues with the run. Started off a little slow (8:30ish) but eventually got it down to 7-7:30ish. What would you do differently?: More training. There's a long way to go before I'll be able to hold 8 min/mile for 13 miles. Post race
Warm down: None- yikes! Drove home to catch the second half of the Bears game. Event comments: Great race, my first triathlon. I didn't stay for the post-race activities and kinda regret it. Drove home to watch the Bears blow it. Last updated: 2007-08-07 12:00 AM

Woke up in hotel at 5am, drank some water, Airborne, drove to race to try to get parking. It was already packed by 5:45am.
My heat was at 7:55 and they closed the transition at 6:30. Being my first triathlon I didn't realize you should have alternate running shoes to warm up in. So that was a bit of a bummer. I ended up "chilling" in my tri shorts (and nothing else, no shirt, no shoes) from 6:30-7:55, stretched out well, swam for 15 min, got out and jogged and did strides, stretched some more, then went into the water 4 min before my heat started.
