Pre-race routine:

It was my first race with out Luke! He had to work and could not make it to the race! My mom and my sister came out to watch and cheer for me, though. I had my usual pre-race 1/2 a cliff bar, some coffee, and some water. It took me a little longer to load the car by myself, but otherwise I had no issues getting to the race in time to setup transition.

  • 500 meters
  • 01m 35s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

I would not do much differently.
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

A little slow, but I stopped to talk to my mom and my sister, who were standing outside of tranistion. They drove all the way to see me very early in the morning, so the least I could do was take a couple secs to say hi!
Bike
  • 54m 28s
  • 16 miles
  • 17.63 mile/hr
Comments:

I enjoyed the ride. I probably did not race quit as hard as I should have, but it was a nice ride and I enjoyed it. I lost my Aero-bottle when I went over a bump and I ran over it, but I did not fall.
What would you do differently?:

There is not much I would do differently. If I had a little more timein the saddle it probably would have been a little fast. Also I might have been too comfortable in my pace adn probably should have pushed a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

This was a very slow T-2 time. I am not sure why it was so slow...I did not have any issues while in transition
What would you do differently?:

move a little quicker
Run
  • 25m 25s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 10m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

I was pretty slow, but I was 3 minutes behind the 3rd place finsher adn 1 minute ahead of the 5th place finisher in my AG. I knew where I was so I really did not push it any harder than I had too. My first mile was just over 9 minutes, but after the turn around I saw that I was way ahead of the next person in my AG so I just relaxed the last 1.5 miles. It was hot, but not as hot as I thought it might be.
What would you do differently?:

I need a little moer conditioning inorder to be a little faster, but otherwise I was pretty happy with my run.
Post race
Warm down:

Finished the race and spent time with my mom and sister. I also talked to an A&M girl (who competes for A&M). She flated durign her race and I passed her on the side of the road about 4 miles from the finish. (She passed me a few miles into the ride and was very encouraging.) She was runnign her bike back to transition. I asked if she were alright and then I told the next volunteers about her hoping that they could help her. When I talked to her after the race, she had run her bike all the way back to tranisition and then she finished the race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training

Event comments:

It was a great local race with lots of volunteers. I had a great time!

Overall: 6/204
Performance: Good
Suit: tri-suit
Course: It was a very calm course in a man-made lake. The water was VERY warm. There were only a few girls in my wave, but I found a girl that had just graduated from college where she had been a swimmer, so I was able to draft off of her for a bit! :) There was algea in the water that i kept touching while swimming and some actually got caught in my chip. I had to stop to pull it off of my foot.

Course: The course was a nice loop course. There was a pretty strong head wind on the north parts of the course, but whenever we turned south there was a tailwind. most of the tailwind was in wooded areas, so it was not quite as helpful. I was suprised to have a few hills on the course. Parts of the course were shaded; which was very nice.

Course: The course was cross country around the lake. They cut the run from 3 to 2.5 miles because 1/2 mile of the course was under water. A portion of the race was also very muddy. I had to stop several times to kick the mud off b/c my shoes were gettign very heavy.
