Swim
Comments: I felt pretty good on this swim compared to two weeks ago. I actually swam a bit and my breathing was pretty good considering the wave action. I kept up with a 12 yr. old girl I had seen on shore and the two of us made it in without too much difficulty! What would you do differently?: Just keep on swimming laps and getting stronger; my endurance is nowhere near where it needs to be; too much breast stroking to catch my breath. Transition 1
Comments: Long way from shore to bike; started to put on number belt then took it off! Slugged down some Gu so had to sip water; in other words, did lots of stuff that took up time! What would you do differently?: Terri and Kevin say I should not talk to people, not be indecisive with my accessories, and in other words, just get going! Bike
Comments: I was trying to take some time off of my last bike finish, and according to my clock I did, but when I got to the end I slowed down way too early and could have lost time due to that. What would you do differently?: Stay strong the whole way till I see the timer recording my time or until I cross timing map. Transition 2
Comments: I put my baseball cap on and the velcro came untied so I had to fix that; then I took more gu and another sip of water, which slowed me down a bit... What would you do differently?: Put my hat on as I am running out of the transition area. Run
Comments: Kept on running; did not walk even though it was very tempting to do so; poured lots of water over my head/neck/back on the return part of course. Finally did a 30 minute three-miler so that is actually an improvement for me! What would you do differently?: Keep on running! Post race
Warm down: Hugs for Terri and Kevin, frosty cold Gatorade, water melon and a cool refreshing sidewalk shower. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being a newbie? Slow bike? Being too social during transitions? The excessive heat?? Event comments: A well run race with nice volunteers and a fun group of people. I got lots of encouragement on the course from the fast bikers, and I gave back to the (very few) people I passed on the bike and run. That's one thing I like about Triathlon; even though people are there to go fast and do well in their age group, everyone is supportive and friendly to one another. Last updated: 2007-08-13 12:00 AM

Ate banana, wheat toast w/peanut butter, drank coffee. Tried to wake up!
Terri and I dove in to the waves to test the water/current. Kevin took some funny pics of us in our swim caps, then we waited for our wave.
