Swim
Comments: I still have the pin in to hold my clavicle together, so I'm still not able to swim anything but breast stroke. Overall I'm pleased with my time, especially since this is the first time I've raced in the Gulf of Mexico -- quite an experience! Transition 1
Bike
Comments: They claim the course was 10 miles, but my bike computer said 9.2. Transition 2
Run
Comments: So I thought I'd learned a lesson from the only other triathlon I'd done, and swore I'd take it easy on the bike. Did I? -- of course not. But the lesson I really learned is that I had more in me than I thought, and was actually able to run very close to my 5K race pace despite having just swam and biked. Exciting! Post race
Event comments: I'm a runner, and really missed having miles marked on the run course. That would be very helpful! Other than that small "nit" about the race, I thought they did a good job. Last updated: 2007-08-14 12:00 AM

Woke up much too early because we knew that parking would be an issue. Got to the race site very early, but got good spots and set up. Then we waited for the sun to come up. I had a bad case of the nerves too -- this was only my second tri ever, and I had just returned from a long vacation, so I had no idea how it was really going to go.
Shivered -- it was cold by Florida standards! But the gulf was warmer than the air temp, so I put my feet in the water and felt much better. Honestly, warming up doesn't help me much.
