Swim
  • 1h 25m 25s
  • 4224 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

First lap was pretty crowded. Second lap I veered towards Monona Terrace on the way out. Probably cost me two or three minutes to get back "on course" and also lost any drafting opportunities out there... The T1 is still chaffing my neck.
What would you do differently?:

Navigate better. Apply bodyglide to neck.
Transition 1
  • 12m 11s
Comments:

Another fun transition for me. Peeler had some trouble with the two piece DeSoto and quickly yelled out for help. Being dizzy as usual after finishing the swim I toppled over. Then had to get the suspenders of the T1 off my shoulders while lying prone. Finally left heel stuck in wetsuit. This all provided comic relief to myself, several dozen spectators in the area and a handful of peelers...
Bike
  • 5h 48m 51s
  • 112 miles
  • 19.26 mile/hr
Comments:

Did I push too hard on the bike? Or did my perceived loss of range of motion on the run (lack of yoga/stretching leading up to Ironman) and perhaps a tougher run course contribute to a longer marathon? Probably all three things...
What would you do differently?:

Get in better bike shape. A 20 MPH bike leg of an Ironman is doable for me but I need to bike more so that I can be fresher coming off the bike and ready to run
Transition 2
  • 05m 28s
Comments:

Good transition, happy to be off the bike. Got some sunblock on as I was leaving transition and stopped to pee (must have been somewhat hydrated then after the bike)...
Run
  • 5h 17m 6s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 12m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

Was able to run/walk throught the entire 26.2 unlike Lake Placid. But was slower than LP. Hillier and my lack of flexibility probably contributed to being slower. Also pushed harder on the bike...
What would you do differently?:

Must regain some flexibility. Also lose 10-15 pounds.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough long bike rides, lack of flexibility decreased my range of motion on the run.

Event comments:

Typical NASports Ironman. Well run...
