Swim
Comments: Thr running in was fun with everyone clapping and the excitment of my 1st tri but that all changed when I got in the water. Due to work and everyday life I had not done an OWS let alone one with my new wetsuit on. So it was a different feeling. I got kicked and slapped as it was crowded. So I found it easier to breast stroke in congestion to be able to better see everyone. Once in the open I would try freestyle and just felt so terrible doing it I'd do side stroke which I'm familiar with. I navigated well and turned on the bouys fine. For some reason my muscles just felt so tired in the water and Im thinking it was from the stress and everything. What would you do differently?: Practice more in my wetsuit and do a ton more OWS. If I would have been able to get comfortable and just swim the whole thing I'd have done so much better. Some how for as terrible as I felt I did I was still 23rd out of the water. Just makes me think how much better it could have been. Transition 1
Comments: T1 is fun, I think the transitions are a fun time for as short as they are. I ended up falling on my ass when I stepped on my wetsuit to get my other leg out and just slipped and fell right on my butt. It was funny. Forgot to connect my shoes to my pedals before the race so I ended up putting them on in transition and click clacking my way out of there. What would you do differently?: Need to go over the course before the race so I know where the hills are and know where in the course I am. Bike
Comments: I love the bike portion. I'm not great with hills by any means but I held my own. Only a few people passed me on the bike. I did well on the hills and had a good time on the course. Was a little queezy in the begining from the 13 gallons of water I drank. I had planned to down atleast 2 gu's on the bike but managed only half of one before I drive heeved. Even without them the time was pretty good. Definitely could have gone fast had I known the course. What would you do differently?: Drive the course before hand. And go faster Transition 2
Comments: Again it was fun. Was a pretty long run to my bike, but no matter what everyone had to run the same. What would you do differently?: Know where I was suppose to rack my back instead of looking on each rack trying figure it out. Run
Comments: That damn hill is all I can say. My legs felt heavy right around the hill. I didnt get in as much running as I wanted obvious from my time but it was fun. Felt terrible on that hill, def. filled my leg with lactic acid. Had enough to sproint to the end and fool people into thinking I was fast one the run. What would you do differently?: Run more so I can get that time lower. Even though it seemed all the run times were slow due to THE HILL. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around and talked with one of the guys who was next to me in transition. Ate some fruit and stayed out of the sun. What limited your ability to perform faster: Work and friends backing out on me for swims and bikes. The running is my fault. I guess it's all my fault. Event comments: Had a blast at this race. I will see you all there next year. For as bad as I felt I did I did ok. With some improvements Ill be working on I can def. drop 5 minutes off my time. I'm hooked guys. Cant wait for my next. Im looking. Last updated: 2007-08-18 12:00 AM

Got there a lot later than I would have liked. But pretty much just tried to relaX. Found my rack area and set my stuff up. Went over things a few times in my head so I knew what I was doing when I got there. Scoped out the T1 entrance and exit to make sure I knew where to go and be as fast as I could.
Not much. I was pretty nervous as my friend backed out on me last minute. I really didn't want to do my 1st tri alone. So the nerves were killing me. If he was there I'd have held his hand I was so nervous. Ya I know guy and guy but hey I was nervous and needed some comfort. But ya I hit the water and messed around with the entry and riding the waves back in to get a feel.
