Swim
Comments: Not bad. Need to more accurately seed myself (seems a recurring theme for these pool swims). Ended up coming out with a lot of gas in the tank for the rest of the course. What would you do differently?: Seed myself properly so I can swim to the fullest of my abilities. Transition 1
Comments: Run from pool to entrance of transition lumped in with swim. An average T1 for me, not going to get much better until I learn to jump on the bike and slip into shoes that are already clipped. What would you do differently?: Not much, until I can learn the above skills. Bike
Comments: HOLY CRAP. I have never averaged more than 20mph before in my life, this was a breakthrough ride for me. In the first mile I passed several riders and then was passed by one 40 year old on a slight uphill as he was standing. I decided I was NOT going to let that guy out of my sight -- and I didn't. I only felt like I was really hammering it on a few of the hills, and always seemed to recover quickly after cresting. My "rabbit" ended up with about 10-15 bike-lengths on me at the end; and when I looked at my watch I couldn't believe I'd finished the bike leg in under 35. What would you do differently?: Not a damn thing. This was a perfect ride, I hope I can remember how this felt; and would dearly love to be able to repeat this effort again. Transition 2
Comments: Little stumble while trying to rack cost me about 10 seconds. Run
Comments: I hit the beginning of this run feeling like a million bucks. The time I posted from the bike leg kept bouying me up. I felt STRONG. When I saw 45 minutes on the watch during the first tenth, I decided I was going to push for a total time of 1:10... the last tenth I was running with conviction, and was still feeling FANTASTIC. Even the announcer called out "number 230 coming in, and you are lookin GREAT!" What would you do differently?: Not a freakin thing. Post race
Warm down: Walk, stretch What limited your ability to perform faster: My swim seed time. Other than that, this race went as good as it can get. Event comments: I am still amped, and gushing over this race. I can't believe how well I performed since lately all I've been concentrating on is my running. Man, I wish I could bottle this feeling and sell it. Last updated: 2005-02-06 12:00 AM

Started late to the course. Got speeding ticket on the way. Made it to transition with 15 minutes to get it together before it closed. Sheesh. Ate a gel and drank some water while waiting for my swim start.
Nada.
