Swim
Comments: Well, despite much swim practice, I wasn't prepared for the opaque brown water and all the feet and hands (not mine) splashing around me. The lake was very shallow in some areas and I actually walked this area. I ended up doing the side stroke most of the way. I was very disappointed in myself. It just seemed like everyone was on top of each other, I got kicked several times and I know I kicked some poor people. What would you do differently?: I don't know. Something. Learn to swim in chaos. Transition 1
Comments: Quickly found bike, rinsed feet, sat down to put on socks and shoes. Removed swim top (remember I have a sports bra on) and put on singlet. Put on helmet and sunglasses, took in some fluids and I was off What would you do differently?: Nothing really, it was a little slow I suppose, but needed to get my bearings. Bike
Comments: I felt really good on this portion and did better than I had projected-maybe it was because I was so elated to be alive after the swim What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: After getting back in with my bike my brain was foggy and I don't know how I was trying to rack my bike, thank goodness my husband yelled "what the heck are you doing???!!" to jerk me back into triathlon land. was really surprised this transition didn't take me longer What would you do differently?: Try to keep a clear head Run
Comments: Starting out my legs have never felt so...wooden and tight. At first I thought it was r/t heat, but then I started loosening up half way through it. Felt like I was moving really slow, so although I had projected a faster time before the race I was surprised my time was as fast as it was. Felt really good toward the end and was able to sprint on in. What would you do differently?: Giddy-up. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, did some stretching What limited your ability to perform faster: Not doing enough bricks Event comments: This was a first for me so nothing to compare it to, but it seems like they did and excellent job! Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers! Last updated: 2007-08-22 12:00 AM

Up early, had a bagel and fluids. Went over gear/equipment checklist (a couple of times) Arrived at little after 6 for body marking and ankle time chip. Found a place for bike. Helmet, sunglasses and singlet with number already pinned on placed on bike. Pan of water to rinse feet, rolled up socks and running shoes next to towel as well as drinks and gu packets (1 banded on handle bars. Had 1 gu prior to swim (not very palatable, blech)
Several trips to empty bladder (hovering over porta-john requires stamina;)
Did some stretching.
