Comments: I rode a little conservatively to the turn-around, maintaining cadence by shifting down on hills, then hard all the way back, pushing up hills to maintain speed. Hills are great! What fun! Passed lots of people on the bike. What would you do differently?: Ride or drive course in advance. Transition 2
Comments: No chips, no times. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Didn't have a lot left after all those hills on the bike, but went at it steady. What would you do differently?: Train more in Zone 4 and more running hard up hills. Post race
Warm down: Stretching, jogging, eating. What limited your ability to perform faster: I probably went as fast as my training would have allowed today. Event comments: Excellent organization, from the goody bag with water bottle, number belt, and the standard nutritional items. Great volunteers, pancake breakfast afterward with all kinds of food. Whole wheat pesto pasta the night before. Woke up @ 3:00 for 4:15 departure. Go-Lean Crunch, Apple, Banana, Yogurt, Coffee,Clif Bar and Gatorade on the way. Arrived @ 6:15, got an end spot on the racks.
Jogging back and forth to parking lot to get stuff. Stretching out. Hammer Gel 15 min. before race time.
