Total Time = 1h 10m 18s
Overall Rank = 86/
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/12
Pre-race routine:

None. Up at 5 AM, had coffee and tried to eat but couldn't. Drove to race, switched out back wheel with disc. Had to put old back wheel back on because no one had a crack pipe to pump up disc. Hubby let one of his athletes borrow his :( We need to buy another one. Then just fussed around until my wave at 7:10 AM. Checked that brakes were not rubbing on rim. Had zip on front.
Event warmup:

Short ride on bike to make sure gears were changing properly.
Swim
  • 06m 16s
  • 330 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt terrible in the water. This has never happened before. I just didn't train enough. Also, while my age group rank is accurate, it is hard to say what my overall rank was because they screwed up the times in some waves, including my own. This is probably the first time I have ever got out of the water exhausted.
What would you do differently?:

Train
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

T1 was fine.
Bike
  • 33m 15s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.85 mile/hr
Comments:

Although my bike split was good, I had to work hard at it and it left nothing for the run.
What would you do differently?:

As with the swim, I would train more. I really only spent a few short hours in total on my bike between Rocky Gap and this race.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

T2 was fine.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 28m 36s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

My run sucked absoulutely big time. I just couldn't find my legs. I had anticipated doing about 8:30-8:40/mile but ended up with 9s. Nothing left in my legs at all. I almost decided to walk because I was feeling so miserable.
What would you do differently?:

Train more for bike and swim. I don't think I am running so badly right now but I had nothing left. Definitely more bike/run transition in training.
Post race
Warm down:

None.

Event comments:

I love this race. It is a great community event. I have participated every year except the year the little guy was born.

So it wasn't too bad (PR is 5:50) given that I didn't train. I swam once between Rocky Gap in early June and this race so I cannot complain.

Brakes started rubbing on back rim after I took the sharp corner out of Marilla park. I didn't get off the bike this year. Instead, I unclipped and kicked the brake until it got off the rim.
