Swim
Comments: Water was nice and warm - fist time I squeezed into the suit since june...forgot how it felt and probs should have done maybe, I don't know, one swim before the race to refresh my memory...oh well! My arms hurt at first and it felt weird, but once I got used to it I had a good swim, excellent navigation except for the slight shallow watter/weird green stuff I ran into on the way back, but quickly got back on track. What would you do differently?: Practice more with my wetsuit Transition 1
Comments: Do we get to subract time for the 1/2 mile they made us run from the lake to our bikes? Good lord! What would you do differently?: Nothing really Bike
Comments: Awesome bike - definitely warm, but drank to stay hydrated. Tried to keep Daniel's estimated avg speed (abt 17 mph) in mind and push as hard as I could. Only horrible part was the last 3-4 miles when I got the worst saddle soreness I've ever experienced in my life! I tried repositioning, but it just wasn't working!!!! Wanted to jump off my bike and into the woods! Wondered why the hell it was happening when I've done much longer rides before and nada! Tried not to let it slow my pace and keep pushing till the end. got passed a little which annoyed me, but just prayed the run would feel better! What would you do differently?: nothing except not have a sore bootie! Transition 2
Comments: Moved pretty quickly through T2, grabbed a sip of BOILING HOT gatorade and was on my way. Lost a bobby pin somewhere so managed with one - maybe I'll try a hat next time... Run
Comments: Thank God there weren't any hills with the heat! So the soreness was still there for the first mile and a half and I was thinking...OMG, I can't run like this!!!! Prayed it would go away and kept running...pictured myself walking if it continued....tried to play mind games with myself and just kept saying that I don't feel it, everything feels great...it worked! Felt better for the next couple miles and felt great for the last 2.5ish. Passed a bunch of people which felt good :) What would you do differently?: Not much...probs could have gone a little faster Post race
Warm down: COLD WATER & AN ICE TOWEL PLEASE! Sat on the lawn with baitboy and could have fallen asleep! Event comments: Loved that the water stations were placed at each mile...gotta ditch the chemical drink though...egh! Last updated: 2007-08-27 12:00 AM
