Pre-race routine:

Streatching, ate cereal and bannana, drank water and iced coffee.
Event warmup:

Very Important Note- This is the worlds largest triathalon. In 2006 "The largest number of participants to complete a triathalon is 3,731 for the International Distance of the Accenture Chicago triathalon in Chicago, Illinois, USA on 27 August 2006." 2007 spectator Guide.
In 2007 This record has been crushed with the number of people at 3,808 who finished the international distance. I looked it up in the results section of the race that was posted on the offical website. My Goal for next year is to be part of the Guiness Book Of World Records and do my first International distance.
Swim
  • 26m 37s
  • 820 yards
  • 03m 15s / 100 yards
Comments:

Getting out was bad. The steps were extremely shallow. I cut my left foot on the top and fell down on the first step. People helped me up and up the rest of the stairs.
What would you do differently?:

Not fall
Transition 1
  • 05m 58s
Bike
  • 1h 10m 42s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 11.60 mile/hr
Comments:

I rode on a mountain bike. Because there were a lot of hills, I should have rode the road bike. I trained and raced with a group on the last race, this race I did solo. It was much better to be part of a group in the cycling area. The ride was slower, someone stole my bike seat 1 week before the race, I used a small seat and a gel covering. I need to find a saddle seat with spring coils, like the one I am used to. And put that on the road bike. I used a mountain bike during the last race and did really good, go figure!
What would you do differently?:

Ride a road bike, I will start training on a road bike now.
Transition 2
  • 04m 44s
Run
  • 48h 26m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 15h 34m 25s  min/mile
Post race
Warm down:

walking, streatching, went to first aid for foot.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

On the bike my foot was hurting a lot. Kept my mind off of it by singing, looking at the scenery and yelling encouragement to others.

Event comments:

Very nice volunteers. I would extend the stairs on the swim exit further into the water. There was a run between the run and transition during the first part there was padding on the ground then there wasnt and there were a lot of rocks and crevices. It would have been better to continue the padding on all of the cement part. The running on the grass was good but on the cement without padding,it was very bad. The volunteers in the first aid tent were very very nice. The medal is awesome!!!! Very nice and lots of color and a place to engrave name and time on back. The racers were nice too. After I recived the medal there was a little boy volunteering and handing out cups of Gatoraide, He was soo sweet.
Afterwards there was a party with live music and lunch. After that there was a drawing for prizes, I thought how awesome is this!!!! I never win anything though.
I had a fun time.
Yes, I would do this race again!
Hopefully next year and I hope to train and race in a group. It is more fun with other people that you know.
