Run
Comments: Kam said let's race together. I think she had some chitters. So we raced for about 3 minutes and then she was gone. God for you Kam. Some day I'll get fast enough to race with you. We started to far back and had a lot picking and dodging to get through to open area. We did get some area before the first mulch trail uphill. I felt good and passing a few people here and there. I walked up the really steep slope. About a 2-3 hundred feet twice on each run. It helped to keep legs going. One of my co-workers was manning the corner into trail. Great to have support. Mike was at that turn telling me I could run faster just do it!! What would you do differently?: Start up closer to front. Transition 1
Comments: I guess I'm a tri'er seems like there should be more to do. Of course if I had turn gloves right side that would have helped. What would you do differently?: Screw the gloves and use different rack. Bike
Comments: Had a tough time getting into toe clips. Felt good on gravel trails. Passed and was passed. That is a good work out on the arms. Started to rain some half way though. Nothing serious. Almost took a spill when I wasn't paying attention and came close to missing handle bar during a hand position change. You can't pass on the single track and I was behind a newbie, May have increased time a little but the rest was pleasant. The bike started to clank about mile six. I just kept pedaling. I'll look at later. What would you do differently?: I had to keep reminding myself you can pedal faster. Practice on course. Practice getting into toe clips. Transition 2
Comments: Did well. Took a half a second to cover bag getting wet in rain. Drank rest of bike gatorade. What would you do differently?: remember there is not much to do but hang bike and change hat. Run
Comments: I was bound and determine to make this a better run segment then last year. As I got into it I thought I could do it. I followed a girl for the entire 2 miles. She would turn and tell me to keep up and I would tell her to get going. We did a good job of pushing and pulling each other faster. We commented that it would be easier to crawl up those steep parts. I did walk them and then catch her on the down hill. We sprinted to the finish. She just edged me out. I would let her finish first anyhow. It gets the crowd going. What would you do differently?: Not much. Post race
Warm down: Talked to Mike, Kam, Ron, Chad and gang. Stretched some. Got water. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was 9 minutes faster then last year. I like it and would push harder on bike. I'm an idiot in transition. I need to practice transitions. Event comments: Fun. It was a good time seeing everyone. Thanks M-daddy for coming down. I only have to take 20 minutes off my time to place first in my AG. Ugh. Hip started to ace half way through bike. Didn't really impede progress but I could feel the injury. Came home and worked on bathroom some. Last updated: 2007-08-28 12:00 AM

Up early to get Willie off to his PSAT. Toast, coffee and banana for breakfast about 2 hours ahead of race. Chad picked me up and we drove 20 minutes to race. Parked a half mile away and rode bikes to venue. Found Kam, Chad's gang, Mike and Maddie, and Ron M. Porta potty and set transition.
Bike to event, ran a 1/4 mile or so with Kam uphill and down. Stretched and lined up. Thanks for the warm up Kam I always do better after a run, and you make me run.
